More Tasty Tuesday's

The last few recipes we have tried were TOTALLY WICKED! The baked potato soup was a recipe I found on pinterst. Just click the link and scroll down a ways to find the recipe. "Pizza Monsters" are our version of homemade pizza pops that got really big. The Sweet Potatoes, well I just made it up as I went with Crushed pecans, butter, and brown sugar. Last but not least was the bacon eggs cup. I think we substituted a slice of ham for the bacon. They were easy to make, and fun to serve. Not sure which exact recipe I used if I did, but I got the idea form Pinterest probably.

Paper Bag Book Reports

Getting up in front of a group of people, and giving a presentation can be scary. These two did a great job, as did the rest of the children involved. Their assignment was  was to write on the 4 sides of a paper bag. The 4 different section were; Plot, Setting, Main Character, and Theme.  Then they were to put 5 objects of their chose inside the bag. These items were supposed to represent something that related to the book. Collecting the items to go in the bags was the funnest part for the kids. Some things they put in their bag they foun around the house, others they made, or Drew. It was a fun way to present a book report.

Remembrance Day

Today we remember the Men and Women that were brave, and fought for our FREEDOM
that we enjoy today. Some of them paid the price with their lives, and for that we are TRULY GREATFUL. This young man is honoured to dress in his Scout uniform, and take place in the ceremony at the epitaph with the war VETERANS of our town today.

It is amazing the wonderful things you can find while enjoying the creation of God. We came across this beaver dam one day as we were exploring the hill sides near my husbands family ranch.  The kids thought it was awesome that an animal could build it all by himself.

Halloween 2013

Just a little Halloween fun. The kids wanted to carve a Minion pumpkin,so we printed off a pattern from the internet and away we went. The best part for me was that Miss M couldn't stand the smell of the pumpkin. She tried really hard to help with the cleaning out of the pumpkin by plugging her nose, but she was still gaging.

Their costumes were great this year; a cowgirl , purple minion dressed up as black spiderman, skeleton bone man, damentor from the Harry Potter books, and my favourite a Cabbage Patch Kid.

After the trick or treating is all over I bring the pumpkin in the house, and chop it up to make pumpkin pie filling. You know you have a fairly large pumpkin when it fills 2 large pots .

Grooming

Just a few pics of the day at riding lessons. The kids are learning to catch and halter their horses, and properly groom and take care of them.

Gas Balloon

A little demonstration on how mixing different substances can make a reaction. In this case vinegar and baking soda.

Fall Bunting

This year for our Fall/ Thanksgiving craft we made these adorable buntings. I found the idea on Pinterest. The site even had free printables, so all I had to do was print them off. The FALL lettering was our own touch.

More Tasty Tuesdays

Not a very good picture, but this dish was welcomed nicely.  Southwest Rice and Black Beans. I even made it with homemade salsa. It was very simple and quick to make. If I remember right, my kids that just LOVE sour cream add a dollop to top theirs off.
This next one was an original creation inspired by recipes I had been looking up on line. It is essentially pasta and spaghetti sauce I just added in Bavarian sausage, zucchini, and any other veggies I wanted like green pepper, mushrooms, corn. etc. Then we sprinkled parmesan cheese on top.

The last meal for this post is Beef Stew. My kiddos don't really like eating soups, so this was not as big a hit as I was hoping with them. On the other hand My hubby and I enjoyed it. I made homemade buns to go with it otherwise this one would have been a complete flop.

More Clay Figures

We were having way to much fun making things out of clay to stop, so here are a few more shots of our creations.

Clay Creatures

What has 3 body parts, 6 legs, antennae, and usually at least one set of wings? If you guessed INSECTS then you are absolutely  right. Learning about these fabulously creepy creature(my opinion not my boys) is a lot of fun. After spending some time learning about the different parts of insects, we made some of our own insect models out of moulding clay.

M's Bee

W's ant
After the insect models were constructed, the kids decided to branch out on the creatures they would mould. We had a crab, a lion, a family of snails, and a crocodile.
